ye jānī-pahchānī socheñ
kitnī haiñ zahrīlī socheñ
apnā to hai rab hī muhāfiz
lekin aap to apnī socheñ
shahroñ kī saḌkoñ par chal kar
badlī haiñ gaañv kī socheñ
vaqt ke dariyā meñ bah kar bhī
dhul na sakīñ yāroñ kī socheñ
pichhlī ko na bhūleñ lekin
kaise kaTeñgī aglī socheñ
auroñ se mil jaa.e fursat
'sāhil' ham phir apnī socheñ
ye jaani-pahchani sochen
kitni hain zahrili sochen

shahron ki saDkon par chal kar
badli hain ganw ki sochen
waqt ke dariya mein bah kar bhi
dhul na sakin yaron ki sochen
pichhli ko na bhulen lekin
kaise kaTengi agli sochen
auron se mil jae fursat
'sahil' hum phir apni sochen
