ye tum be-vaqt kaise aaj aa nikle sabab kyā hai
bulāyā jab na aa.e ab ye aanā be-talab kyā hai
mohabbat kā asar phir dekhnā marne to do mujh ko
vo mere saath zinda dafn ho jaa.eñ ajab kyā hai
nigāh-e-yār mil jaatī to ham shāgird ho jaate
zarā ye siikh lete dil ke le lene kā Dhab kyā hai
jo ġham tum ne diyā us par tasadduq saikḌoñ ḳhushiyāñ
jo dukh tum se mile un ke muqābil meñ tarab kyā hai
samajhte the baḌā sachchā musalmāñ tum ko sab 'muztar'
magar tum to butoñ ko pūjte ho ye ġhazab kyā hai
