ajab thā hind-e-pārīna kā vo qānūn bhī jis meñ
jo koī mard āvāra
kisī aurat ko sandal zevarāt-e-jauhar-o-zar pairahan maalā sharāb irsāl kartā to
zinā kī ek sūrat mānte the is amal ko bhī
kiye jaate the jis par bhārī jurmāne
ta.ashshuq ġhair kī biivī se paiġhām us ko bhijvānā
aur us se chheḌ us kā pairahan chhūnā
kisī aurat kī sohbat meñ akele meñ machal jaanā
falātūnī vafā kī aarzū karnā
aur āñkhoñ ke ishāroñ se rasīlī guftugū karnā
kisī tālāb meñ us kī ma.iyyat meñ nahānā bhī
bahalnā muskurānā bhī
zinā kī sūrateñ thiiñ sab
kiye jaate the jurmāne hamesha in jarā.em par
ajab kirdār kī pākīzgī kā vo tasavvur thā
ki jis meñ itnī bandish thī
ajab thā vo shi.ār apnā
aur ab āzādgī lahrā rahī hai be-ḳhatar ho kar
koī bandish nahīñ ḳhvāhish kī laġhzish par
ġhazab hai ye shi.ār apnā

kisi talab mein us ki maiyyat mein nahana bhi
bahalna muskurana bhi
zina ki suraten thin sab
kiye jate the jurmane hamesha in jaraem par
ajab kirdar ki pakizgi ka wo tasawwur tha
ki jis mein itni bandish thi
ajab tha wo shiar apna
aur ab aazadgi lahra rahi hai be-KHatar ho kar
koi bandish nahin KHwahish ki laghzish par
ghazab hai ye shiar apna
