ek ghair aham sham ka tazkira
tum se bichhaḌ ke ziist meñ
ġham kā nuzūl rah gayā
bujh gayā rang-e-shā.irī
harf-e-fuzūl rah gayā
mere liye to har nafas
dukh kā husūl rah gayā
dil kā jo ik gulāb thā
ban ke vo dhuul rah gayā
sarv-o-saman chale ga.e
sirf babūl rah gayā
shaam kī zulf meñ sajā
yaad kā phuul rah gayā
mujh ko akelā dekh kar
chāñd malūl rah gayā
