    harī-bharī ghaas

    paanī mile to harī-bharī na mile to ghās-phūs

    thoḌī nargisiyat ijāzat dījiye

    are jab ugtī huuñ to kyā joban hotā hai mujh par

    na.ī na.ī ghaas par sūraj kirneñ paḌtī haiñ to

    andhoñ āñkhoñ meñ bhī tarāvat utar aatī hai janāb

    aur haa.e vo taaza taaza ghaas ḳhushbū

    par afsos jab der tak bārish na ho to piilī paḌ jaatī huuñ

    magar dhuup pahle mujhe sonā aur phir kundan banā detī hai

    zamīn par īstāda hazāroñ pahāḌiyoñ par merā rañg chaḌhā hotā hai

    aañkh rakhne vaale kahte haiñ

    sabze se Dhakī pahāḌiyāñ kitnī bhī hasīn hoñ

    sone se Dhakī pahāḌiyoñ baat alag hai

    lekin ye maiñ kyā baḌ hāñkne baiTh ga.ī

    āmdan barsar-e-matlab maiñ sāñpoñ ke baare meñ kuchh kahnā chāhtī huuñ

    saañp jo ghaas meñ chhup kirdār karte haiñ

    ghaas se Dhake lawn baaġh aur park

    karoḌoñ insānoñ ko taskīn dete haiñ

    bachche ghaas par bhāgte dauḌte uchhalte kūdte aur loT-poT hote haiñ

    javān mujh par chalte hue mohabbatoñ iz.hār aur iqrār karte haiñ

    umr-rasīda log duur duur tak phaile sabze ko dekh kar

    dil ghuTan aur ehsās-e-ziyāñ bhuul jaate haiñ

    maiñ ḳhush hotī huuñ ki kisī ke kaam aa huuñ

    lekin merī ḳhushī dukh aur sharmindagī meñ badal jaatī hai

    jab mere andar chhupe hue saañp insānoñ ko Das lete haiñ

    sochtī huuñ in sāñpoñ kyā ilaaj karūñ

    sochtī huuñ in sāñpoñ koī ilaaj hai bhī nahīñ

    sochtī huuñ saañp mujhī meñ to nahīñ chhupe

    vo to zamīn ke kone kone meñ maujūd haiñ

    us ke andar bhī us ke bāhar bhī

    sochtī huuñ jis tezī se sāñpoñ ta.adād baḌh rahī hai

    kal ye saarī zamīn par na chhā jaa.eñ

    sochtī huuñ koī sailāb aa jaa.e jo unheñ bahā le jaa.e

    phir ḳhayāl aatā hai ye bah kar jā.eñge kahāñ

    āḳhir ek na ek din paanī utregā aur ye dobāra ḳhushkī par chaḌh ā.eñge

    aur mere dāman meñ panāh le leñge

    sochtī huuñ ḳhudā ne mujhe banāyā thā to unheñ kyuuñ banāyā

    aur agar banāyā thā to un ke andar zahar kyuuñ bhar diyā

    kyuuñ ho ga.e ye insān ke dushman

    magar saare saañp to zahrīle nahīñ hote

    aur kyā insānoñ ke andar bhī zahr nahīñ bhartā rahā hai ab

    sochtī huuñ insān saañp se Dartā hai to

    saañp bhī insān se Dartā hai

    insān ne saañp meñ shaitān shakl dekhī thī

    jis ne use jannat se nikalvā diyā thā

    insān ke andar shaitān se barābar utarne talab rakh ga.ī hai

    jahāñ kahīñ saañp ko dekhtā hai use mārne koshish kartā hai

    saañp ko bhī insān ke us azlī-o-abdī irāde ḳhabar hai

    isī liye to insān aahaT paate bhaag khaḌā hotā hai

    ḳharābī to merī vaj.h se hotī hai

    ghaas meñ chhupā saañp insān ko dekh kar bhāgtā hai

    lekin insān use dekh nahīñ paatā aur nā-dānista us paañv saañp par paḌ jaatā hai

    aur saañp apnī jaan bachāne ke liye use Das letā hai

    yuuñ maiñ zarīya ban jaatī huuñ insān maut

    mujhe apnā ye kirdār hargiz pasand nahīñ

    sochtī huuñ insānoñ aur sāñpoñ ne aapas meñ laḌnā hai to

    merī aaḌ meñ na laḌeñ

    saḌkoñ par laḌeñ gharoñ ke andar laḌeñ

    chaTyal maidānoñ meñ laḌeñ sahrāoñ meñ laḌeñ

    phir ḳhayāl aatā hai in jag.hoñ par to pahle ghamsān laḌā.ī ho rahī hai

    insān insān se laḌ rahā hai

    aur us ne tarah tarah ke

    mohlik kīmiyā.ī jauharī aur nafsiyātī hathiyār ījād kar liye haiñ

    ek dūsre ko dukh dene aur mārne ke liye

    sochtī huuñ kahīñ insānoñ ne marne shauq to nahīñ paal liyā

    aur agar unhoñ ne marne Thaan hai

    to maiñ kis chakkar meñ un ġham khā rahī huuñ

    mujhe yahī fikr hai ki zindagī arboñ saal ke safar meñ insān tak pahuñchī hai

    aur ab agar insānoñ ke hāthoñ insān tabāh ho ga.e

    aur saath zamīn barbād ho ga.ī to meñ bhī maarī jā.ūñgī

    zindagī ruḳhsat ho jā.egī zamīn se

    phir ḳhayāl aatā hai maiñ to zindagī bahut ibtidā.ī sūrat huuñ

    agar zindagī safar khoTā ho jaane is qadar fikr lāhiq hai mujhe

    to insān jo zindagī afzal-tarīn namūna haiñ

    vo ijtimā.ī ḳhud-kushī ke rāste par kyuuñ chal nikle haiñ

    sāñpoñ se dushmanī nibāhte nibāhte ḳhud saañp kyuuñ ban ga.e haiñ

    ḳhūb-sūrat aur be-zarar saañp nahīñ

    zahrīle aur mohlik saañp jo ek dūsre ko Das rahe haiñ

    aur kuchh insān to daulat aur tāqat sameT kar azhdahe ban ga.e haiñ

    afsos to ye hai ki maare ziyāda-tar vo rahe haiñ jin koī qusūr nahīñ hotā

    azdahoñ laḌā.ī meñ chhoTe-moTe saañp

    makkhiyoñ aur chiyūñTiyoñ tarah pis kar rah jaate haiñ

    sochtī huuñ kisī sailāb ne zamīn ko sāñpoñ se paak bhī kar diyā

    to sāñpoñ tarah phaTkārte insānoñ se kyūñkar chhuTkārā hogā

    isī liye soch soch kar chup ho rahtī huuñ

    lekin ye chup andar andar mujhe khaa.e jaatī hai

    dekhiye meñ piilī paḌtī rahī huuñ

    hare-bhare sabze se rūkhā-sūkhā ghās-phūs bantī rahī huuñ

    aur zamīn par sonā bikhartā rahā hai

    pahāḌiyāñ sone se damak uThī haiñ

    magar insān un se be-niyāz

    kāġhzī sone talāsh meñ

    ek dūsre galā kāTte hue

    zamīn par maare maare phir rahe haiñ

    kaash insān kāġhzī sone se nigāh uThā kar dekhte

    ki jis saañp ko vo shaitān samajh kar mārne dauḌte haiñ

    vo to hirs sūrat meñ us ke dil meñ baiThā hai

    aur un ke apne hāthoñ kāġhaz ke chand TukḌoñ ḳhātir

    nasl-e-insānī ko halāk karvā rahā hai

    sochtī huuñ aag ugalte sāñpoñ tarah

    kisī insān phunkār ne mujhe chiñgārī dikhā

    to jañgal ke jañgal jal kar raakh ho jā.eñge

    insān ko to apnī nau fikr nahīñ

    vo zamīn par ābād zindagī dūsrī sūratoñ kyā parvā karegā

    kaash use fursat hotī dekhne

    ki jis ghās-phūs ko vo be-dhyānī meñ jilā Dāltā hai

    vo zamīn libās hai

    is zamīn jis ne use paalā thā

    jo saarī zindagī tarah us bhī maañ hai

    aur ghās-phūs ko jalā kar vo apnī maañ ko be-satr kar rahā hai

    lekin maiñ ye kyā pakhān le baiThī huuñ

    maiñ to apnā ta.āruf karā rahī thī

    aur apne andar chhupe sāñpoñ baat kar rahī thī

    aur chal paḌī sāñpoñ se insān taraf

    insānoñ taraf jo sāñpoñ taraf chal rahe haiñ

    vaise saañp bhī apne bachche khā jaatā hai

    aur ab insān bhī apne bachche khā rahā hai

    aur maiñ vahī ghaas

    mahv-e-yās udaas

    main ghas hun

    hari-bhari ghas

    pani mile to hari-bhari na mile to ghas-phus

    thoDi nargisiyat ki ijazat dijiye

    are jab ugti hun to kya joban hota hai mujh par

    nai nai ghas par suraj ki kirnen paDti hain to

    andhon ki aankhon mein bhi tarawat utar aati hai janab

    aur hae wo taza taza ghas ki KHushbu

    par afsos jab der tak barish na ho to pili paD jati hun

    magar dhup pahle mujhe sona aur phir kundan bana deti hai

    zamin par istada hazaron pahaDiyon par mera hi rang chaDha hota hai

    aankh rakhne wale kahte hain

    sabze se Dhaki pahaDiyan kitni bhi hasin hon

    sone se Dhaki pahaDiyon ki baat hi alag hai

    lekin ye main kya baD hankne baiTh gai

    aamdan barsar-e-matlab main sanpon ke bare mein kuchh kahna chahti hun

    sanp jo ghas mein chhup kirdar karte hain

    jawan mujh par chalte hue mohabbaton ka izhaar aur iqrar karte hain

    umr-rasida log dur dur tak phaile sabze ko dekh kar

    dil ki ghuTan aur ehsas-e-ziyan bhul jate hain

    main KHush hoti hun ki kisi ke kaam aa hi hun

    lekin meri KHushi dukh aur sharmindagi mein badal jati hai

    jab mere andar chhupe hue sanp insanon ko Das lete hain

    sochti hun in sanpon ka kya ilaj karun

    sochti hun in sanpon ka koi ilaj hai bhi ya nahin

    sochti hun sanp mujhi mein to nahin chhupe

    wo to zamin ke kone kone mein maujud hain

    us ke andar bhi us ke bahar bhi

    sochti hun jis tezi se sanpon ki tadad baDh rahi hai

    kal ye sari zamin par na chha jaen

    sochti hun koi sailab hi aa jae jo unhen baha le jae

    phir KHayal aata hai ye bah kar jaenge kahan

    aaKHir ek na ek din pani utrega aur ye dobara KHushki par chaDh aaenge

    aur mere hi daman mein panah le lenge

    sochti hun KHuda ne mujhe banaya tha to unhen kyun banaya

    aur agar banaya hi tha to un ke andar zahar kyun bhar diya

    kyun ho gae ye insan ke dushman

    magar sare sanp to zahrile nahin hote

    aur kya insanon ke andar bhi zahr nahin bharta ja raha hai ab

    sochti hun insan sanp se Darta hai to

    sanp bhi insan se Darta hai

    insan ne sanp mein shaitan ki shakl dekhi thi

    jis ne use jannat se nikalwa diya tha

    insan ke andar shaitan se barabar utarne ki talab rakh di gai hai

    jahan kahin sanp ko dekhta hai use marne ki koshish karta hai

    sanp ko bhi insan ke us azli-o-abdi irade ki KHabar hai

    isi liye to insan ki aahaT ya bu pate hi bhag khaDa hota hai

    KHarabi to meri wajh se hoti hai

    ghas mein chhupa sanp insan ko dekh kar bhagta hai

    lekin insan use dekh nahin pata aur na-danista us ka panw sanp par paD jata hai

    aur sanp apni jaan bachane ke liye use Das leta hai

    yun main zariya ban jati hun insan ki maut ka

    mujhe apna ye kirdar hargiz pasand nahin

    sochti hun insanon aur sanpon ne aapas mein laDna hi hai to

    meri aaD mein na laDen

    saDkon par laDen gharon ke andar laDen

    chaTyal maidanon mein laDen sahraon mein laDen

    phir KHayal aata hai in jaghon par to pahle hi ghamsan ki laDai ho rahi hai

    insan insan se laD raha hai

    aur us ne tarah tarah ke

    mohlik kimiyai jauhari aur nafsiyati hathiyar ijad kar liye hain

    ek dusre ko dukh dene aur marne ke liye

    sochti hun kahin insanon ne marne ka shauq to nahin pal liya

    aur agar unhon ne marne hi ki Than li hai

    to main kis chakkar mein un ka gham kha rahi hun

    mujhe yahi fikr hai na ki zindagi arbon sal ke safar mein insan tak pahunchi hai

    aur ab agar insanon ke hathon insan tabah ho gae

    aur sath hi zamin barbaad ho gai to mein bhi mari jaungi

    zindagi hi ruKHsat ho jaegi zamin se

    phir KHayal aata hai main to zindagi ki bahut ibtidai surat hun

    agar zindagi ka safar khoTa ho jaane ki is qadar fikr lahiq hai mujhe

    to insan jo zindagi ka afzal-tarin namuna hain

    wo ijtimai KHud-kushi ke raste par kyun chal nikle hain

    sanpon se dushmani nibahte nibahte KHud sanp kyun ban gae hain

    KHub-surat aur be-zarar sanp nahin

    zahrile aur mohlik sanp jo ek dusre ko Das rahe hain

    aur kuchh insan to daulat aur taqat sameT kar azhdahe ban gae hain

    afsos to ye hai ki mare ziyaada-tar wo ja rahe hain jin ka koi qusur nahin hota

    azdahon ki laDai mein chhoTe-moTe sanp

    makkhiyon aur chiyunTiyon ki tarah pis kar rah jate hain

    sochti hun kisi sailab ne zamin ko sanpon se pak bhi kar diya

    to sanpon ki tarah phaTkarte insanon se kyunkar chhuTkara hoga

    isi liye soch soch kar chup ho rahti hun

    lekin ye chup andar hi andar mujhe khae jati hai

    dekhiye mein pili paDti ja rahi hun

    hare-bhare sabze se rukha-sukha ghas-phus banti ja rahi hun

    aur zamin par sona bikharta ja raha hai

    pahaDiyan sone se damak uThi hain

    magar insan un se be-niyaz

    kaghzi sone ki talash mein

    ek dusre ka gala kaTte hue

    zamin par mare mare phir rahe hain

    kash insan kaghzi sone se nigah uTha kar dekhte

    ki jis sanp ko wo shaitan samajh kar marne dauDte hain

    wo to hirs ki surat mein us ke dil mein ja baiTha hai

    aur un ke apne hathon kaghaz ke chand TukDon ki KHatir

    nasl-e-insani ko halak karwa raha hai

    sochti hun aag ugalte sanpon ki tarah

    kisi insan ki phunkar ne mujhe chingari dikha di

    to jangal ke jangal jal kar rakh ho jaenge

    insan ko to apni nau ki fikr nahin

    wo zamin par aabaad zindagi ki dusri suraton ki kya parwa karega

    kash use fursat hoti dekhne ki

    ki jis ghas-phus ko wo be-dhyani mein jila Dalta hai

    wo zamin ka libas hai

    is zamin ka jis ne use pala tha

    jo sari zindagi ki tarah us ki bhi man hai

    aur ghas-phus ko jala kar wo apni man ko be-satr kar raha hai

    lekin main ye kya pakhan le baiThi hun

    main to apna taaruf kara rahi thi

    aur apne andar chhupe sanpon ki baat kar rahi thi

    aur chal paDi sanpon se insan ki taraf

    insanon ki taraf jo sanpon ki taraf chal rahe hain

    waise sanp bhi apne bachche kha jata hai

    aur ab insan bhi apne bachche kha raha hai

    aur main wahi ghas
