huwal-ishq
vo 'sārā'-ahmadī kī daf-navāzī
aur vo ishq-e-maulvī
phir yuuñ huā
vo tak-tak-e-daf
mahv hotī jā rahī thiiñ
haq haq-e-haq meñ
ye faizān-e-nigāh-e-'shams' thā yā
jazb-e-qalb-e-maulvī thā
ba.ad-azāñ
jo kuchh bhī thā vo sarmadī thā
wo 'sara'-ahmadi ki daf-nawazi
aur wo ishq-e-maulwi
phir yun hua
wo tak-tak-e-daf
mahw hoti ja rahi thin
haq haq-e-haq mein
ye faizan-e-nigah-e-'shams' tha ya
jazb-e-qalb-e-maulwi tha
baad-azan
