    ġhalat logoñ bārish ho rahī hai

    paanī bajā.e un nahūsat baras rahī hai

    ek kuttā raat aur din ke darmiyān khaḌā ro rahā hai

    ġhalat bārish nahūsat aur kutte āvāz se

    zindagī ke kisī bhī farsh par sulāne vaalī niiñd lāzim hai

    magar niiñd ko to aadmī āñkhoñ ke uupar se uThā liyā gayā hai

    ya.anī ab qayāmat tak sirf jāgnā hai

    aur us ke sivā maidān-e-hashr ho bhī kyā saktā hai

    koī nahīñ jāntā ki jānñe se pahle kis ne kitnā jaanā

    kis ne azal aur abad ke tūl-o-arz ko jaanā

    jaane baġhair ġhalat zamīn ġhalat duniyā meñ ġhalat zindagī guzrī ga.ī

    to kyā vo maut thī jo kisī ko zindagī se le jaane ke liye aa.ī nahīñ aa.ī

    magar ye jo saare manzar kisī nahūsat ne dikhā.e

    vo kis naam buniyād se shurūa huī

    shurūa na ho ke kis naam par ḳhatm huī

    ḳhatm huī bhī nahīñ

    jhuuT ne sach se kyā kahā

    sach ne jhuuT se kyā kahā

    hamāre hote hue jo bisāt-e-zindagī uThā ga.ī

    vo ab kaun bichhā.e

    havā ne kabhī koī diyā raushan nahīñ kiyā

    hamāre hote hue jo bisāt-e-zindagī uThā ga.ī

    vo ab kaun bichhā.e

    havā ne kabhī koī diyā raushan nahīñ kiyā

    to jab ham nahīñ hoñge

    phir hamāre banā.e ho.e rāsta par kaun chalegā

    mohabbat naam detī hai naam miTātī nahīñ

    to ab mohabbat ko mohabbat se ḳhatra lāhaq hai

    vahshat se kaho ki vo zarā khiḌkī khol kar dekhe

    kahīñ duniyā boliyoñ aur zabānoñ malba ho chukī ho aur hameñ pata na chalā ho

    kahīñ malbe se DhūñDh DhūñDh ke tarah tarah ke bāzār nikāle aur lagā.e rahe huuñ

    aur hameñ pata na chalā ho

    zarā edison ruuh se pūchho

    us ke bulb ḳhvāb-gāh aur murda-ḳhāne meñ ba-yak-vaqt kyuuñ raushan hote haiñ

    mohabbat jab āvāz banī

    to āvāz se boliyāñ aur zabāneñ kab banīñ

    kyā zamīn par koī jañg

    zamīn ke bāhar laḌī ga.ī

    agar nahīñ to kyā zamīn par sātoñ āsmān nāzil hue

    agar nahīñ to zamīn par zamīn nāzil huī

    ghalat logon ki barish ho rahi hai

    pani ki bajae un ki nahusat baras rahi hai

    ek kutta raat aur din ke darmiyan khaDa ro raha hai

    ghalat barish nahusat aur kutte ki aawaz se

    zindagi ke kisi bhi farsh par sulane wali nind lazim hai

    magar nind ko to aadmi ki aankhon ke upar se uTha liya gaya hai

    yani ab qayamat tak sirf jagna hai

    aur us ke siwa maidan-e-hashr ho bhi kya sakta hai

    koi nahin jaanta ki jaanne se pahle kis ne kitna jaana

    kis ne azal aur abad ke tul-o-arz ko jaana

    ya jaane baghair hi ghalat zamin ki ghalat duniya mein ghalat zindagi guzri gai

    to kya wo maut thi jo kisi ko zindagi se le jaane ke liye aai ya nahin aai

    magar ye jo sare manzar kisi nahusat ne dikhae

    wo kis nam ki buniyaad se shurua hui

    ya shurua na ho ke kis nam par KHatm hui

    KHatm hui bhi ya nahin

    jhuT ne sach se kya kaha

    ya sach ne jhuT se kya kaha

    hamare hote hue jo bisat-e-zindagi uTha di gai

    wo ab kaun bichhae

    hawa ne kabhi koi diya raushan nahin kiya

    hamare hote hue jo bisat-e-zindagi uTha di gai

    wo ab kaun bichhae

    hawa ne kabhi koi diya raushan nahin kiya

    to jab hum nahin honge

    phir hamare banae hoe rasta par kaun chalega

    mohabbat nam deti hai nam miTati nahin

    to ab mohabbat ko mohabbat se KHatra lahaq hai

    wahshat se kaho ki wo zara khiDki khol kar dekhe

    kahin duniya boliyon aur zabanon ka malba ho chuki ho aur hamein pata na chala ho

    kahin malbe se DhunDh DhunDh ke tarah tarah ke bazar nikale aur lagae ja rahe hun

    aur hamein pata na chala ho

    zara edison ki ruh se puchho

    us ke bulb KHwab-gah aur murda-KHane mein ba-yak-waqt kyun raushan hote hain

    mohabbat jab aawaz bani

    to aawaz se boliyan aur zabanen kab banin

    kya zamin par koi jang

    zamin ke bahar laDi gai

    agar nahin to kya zamin par saton aasman nazil hue

    agar nahin to zamin par zamin nazil hui
