تم نے دیکھا تھا اس کے چہرے کو
تھے کہیں کرب کے کوئی آثار
تم اسے موت کہہ رہے تھے مگر
خواب راحت میں وہ تو سوتا تھا
اور پسماندگان کے سینے میں
جس جہنم کی آگ جلتی تھی
جز خدا کون جان سکتا ہے
سخت حیرت ہے لوگ اس پر بھی
ماتم مرگ کر رہے ہیں مگر
ماتم زندگی نہیں کرتے
