Interesting Fact
The famous critic Muhammad Hasan Askari once asked the accomplished poets of his time to name one of their choice poems, then different poets mentioned the names of their representative poems. Hasan Askari compiled all these poems in book form which was published by Kitabistan Allahabad in 1932.

jab aañkh khol ke dekhā to ho gayā mastūr
ye merā dīda-e-bīnā hī ik hijāb huā
tū chhup gayā mah o anjum meñ lāla-o-gul meñ
har ek jalva-e-rañgīñ tirā naqāb huā
jab aañkh band huī tū hī jalva-ārā thā

mirī zabān khulī sharh-e-āshiqī ke liye
mirā bayāñ thā muraqqa.a mirī ḳhajālat kā
har ek harf meñ thā ġhairiyat kā afsāna
mirī zabāñ ne kiyā ḳhuuñ mirī mohabbat kā
mire sukūt meñ tūfān-e-ishq barpā thā

mire havās rahe tere vasl meñ haa.il
jo be-ḳhudī meñ huā ġharq tū milā mujh ko
ajiib shai hai mohabbat meñ ḳhud-farāmoshī
fanā huā to milī lazzat-e-baqā mujh ko
mirā vajūd hī ai dost ek parda thā

meri zaban ne kiya KHun meri mohabbat ka
mere sukut mein tufan-e-ishq barpa tha

mere hawas rahe tere wasl mein hail
jo be-KHudi mein hua gharq tu mila mujh ko
ajib shai hai mohabbat mein KHud-faramoshi
fana hua to mili lazzat-e-baqa mujh ko
mera wajud hi ai dost ek parda tha
