sub.h shave na banā.ūñ to ghar se nikalte jhijak aatī hai
Thahariye zarā maiñ dekh luuñ bāhar ye shor kaisā hai
are maalī lawn meñ ghaas kī machine pher rahā thā
aap to jānte haiñ ghaas na kaTe to machchhar jaan nahīñ chhoḌte
vaise kabhī aap ne tākistānoñ meñ añgūr kī TunD-munD muDhiyoñ ko dekhā hai
yaqīn hī nahīñ aatā ki un se na.ī shāḳheñ phūTeñgī
jo pattoñ aur guchchhoñ se lad jā.eñgī
abhī maiñ ne gulāb ke paudoñ kī apne hāthoñ se kāñT-chhāñT kī hai
merī aalim fāzil biivī kī jaan nikaltī jā rahī thī
jab maiñ bedardī se qaiñchī chalā rahā thā
lekin maiñ bāġhbānoñ kī aulād huuñ
dukh to mujhe bhī hotā hai
pale hue paudoñ aur daraḳhtoñ ko chhañgte hue
lekin phuul aur phal to us ke baġhair yuuñ samjhe rañg hī nahīñ laate
na vo husn na vo maza na vo bohtāt
aap bhī sochte hoñge punjab kā muqaddama laḌte laḌte
maiñ hajjāmoñ aur māliyoñ kī vakālat karne to nahīñ chal paḌā
saada sī baat hai ki insānoñ aur paudoñ kī tarāsh-ḳharāsh hotī rahnī chāhiye
lekin kyā baal kaTvā liye jaa.eñ nāḳhun le liye jaa.eñ shave kar lī jaa.e
to kaam ḳhatm ho jaatā hai
kyā insān sirf jism kā naam hai yā
jazbāt ḳhayālāt ḳhvāhishāt aur azā.em bhī hamārā hissa haiñ
to kyā jism ke saath un kī tarāsh-ḳharāsh bhī zarūrī hai
shāyad jazbāt aur ḳhayālāt kī tarāsh-ḳharāsh hī ko tahzīb kahte haiñ
shāyad ḳhvāhishātan aur azā.em kī nok-palak sañvārne hī se tamaddun ne janm liyā hai
varna to insān ġharaz-mandāna huqūq hī ke chakkar se nahīñ nikaltā
aur zimmadāriyoñ ke idrāk-o-ehsās kī naubat hī nahīñ aatī
muaaf kījiye ye saarī chorī-chakārī bad-kārī havas-kārī
ye saarī lūT-mār ja.al-sāzī harām-zadgī be-sabrī nā-shukr-guzārī
ye saarā jhuuT fareb lālach fitna fasād
jazbāt-o-ḳhayālāt aur ḳhvāhishāt-o-azā.im kī hajāmat na banāne hī kā to natīja hai
janāb jazbāt ko tamīz aur ḳhayālāt ko aḳhlāq na sikhāyā jaa.e
ḳhvāhishāt aur azā.em ke muñh par insāniyat kī lagām na dī jaa.e
to phir vahī kuchh hotā hai jo aaj hamāre yahāñ ho rahā hai
aur ye kah kar ziyāda din guzāra nahīñ ho saktā ki
is tarah to hotā hai is tarah ke kāmoñ meñ
aap hañseñge maiñ jab bhī ye misra.a paḌhtā huuñ
is tarah se mujhe usturā yaad aa jaatā hai
qaiñchiyāñ yaad aa jaatī haiñ hajāmat yaad aa jaatī hai
kuchh bhī ho maiñ to samajhtā huuñ ki qaumī sat.h par hamārī hajāmat bahut zarūrī ho ga.ī hai
hamāre sirf baal aur nāḳhun hī nahīñ baḌh ga.e
ham zāhir hī meñ nahīñ bātin meñ bhī jānvar bante jā rahe haiñ
jānvariyat hamāre dil-o-dimāġh meñ utar ga.ī hai
ab to andar bāhar hajāmat kī zarūrat hai
bha.ī bulāo kisī nashtar-ba-dast hajjām ko jo hajāmat banā.e aur fasd khole hamārī
lekin ek anaar aur sau bīmār
ek akelā hajjām aur chaudah karoḌ insān
ye to ham sab ko ḳhud hī ā.īne ke sāmne baiTh kar hajāmat banā.ī aur fasd kholnī paḌegī apnī
to bhā.iyo aur bahno
mere pyāre ham-vatano

sada si baat hai ki insanon aur paudon ki tarash-KHarash hoti rahni chahiye
lekin kya baal kaTwa liye jaen naKHun le liye jaen shawe kar li jae
to kaam KHatm ho jata hai
kya insan sirf jism ka nam hai ya
jazbaat KHayalat KHwahishat aur azaem bhi hamara hissa hain
to kya jism ke sath un ki tarash-KHarash bhi zaruri hai
shayad jazbaat aur KHayalat ki tarash-KHarash hi ko tahzib kahte hain
shayad KHwahishatan aur azaem ki nok-palak sanwarne hi se tamaddun ne janm liya hai
warna to insan gharaz-mandana huquq hi ke chakkar se nahin nikalta
aur zimmadariyon ke idrak-o-ehsas ki naubat hi nahin aati
muaf kijiye ye sari chori-chakari bad-kari hawas-kari
ye sari luT-mar jal-sazi haram-zadgi be-sabri na-shukr-guzari
ye sara jhuT fareb lalach fitna fasad
jazbaat-o-KHayalat aur KHwahishat-o-azaim ki hajamat na banane hi ka to natija hai
janab jazbaat ko tamiz aur KHayalat ko aKHlaq na sikhaya jae
KHwahishat aur azaem ke munh par insaniyat ki lagam na di jae
to phir wahi kuchh hota hai jo aaj hamare yahan ho raha hai
aur ye kah kar ziyaada din guzara nahin ho sakta ki
is tarah to hota hai is tarah ke kaamon mein
aap hansenge main jab bhi ye misra paDhta hun
is tarah se mujhe ustura yaad aa jata hai
qainchiyan yaad aa jati hain hajamat yaad aa jati hai
kuchh bhi ho main to samajhta hun ki qaumi sath par hamari hajamat bahut zaruri ho gai hai
hamare sirf baal aur naKHun hi nahin baDh gae
hum zahir hi mein nahin baatin mein bhi jaanwar bante ja rahe hain
jaanwariyat hamare dil-o-dimagh mein utar gai hai
ab to andar bahar hajamat ki zarurat hai
bhai bulao kisi nashtar-ba-dast hajjam ko jo hajamat banae aur fasd khole hamari
lekin ek anar aur sau bimar
ek akela hajjam aur chaudah karoD insan
ye to hum sab ko KHud hi aaine ke samne baiTh kar hajamat banai aur fasd kholni paDegi apni
to bhaiyo aur bahno
