dil ab us dil-shikan ke pas kahan

koi kisi ka kahin aashna nahin dekha

kahta hai kaun hijr mujhe subh o sham ho

le ke dil us shoKH ne ek dagh sine par diya

raat us tunuk-mizaj se kuchh baat baDh gai

ye aarzu hai ki wo nama-bar se le kaghaz

kaha aghyar ka haq mein mere manzur mat kijo

main tere Dar se ro nahin sakta

shikwa apne taleon ki na-rasai ka karun

ya rab na hind hi mein ye maTi KHarab ho

ye KHub-ru na chhuri ne kaTar rakhte hain

na faqat yar bin sharab hai talKH

farhad kis umid pe lata hai ju-e-shir

ja kahe ku-e-yar mein koi

puchhta kaun hai Darta hai tu ai yar abas

jo zamin par faragh rakhte hain
