mohabbat muskuraati ja rahi hai

ye bhi nahin ummid ki bedad karoge

har subh-e-daraKHshan mere liye paigham-e-masarrat hoti hai

jo KHush-nasib tere ishq mein KHarab hue

wo giri hai barq ki al-aman mere aashiyan-e-qarar par

dard-e-furqat se qarabat si hui jati hai

fitrat-e-ahbab se mahram rahe

kaun kahta hai ki ye shoKHi-e-bedad nahin

bulbul ka haal dekh chuka hun chaman se dur

jaanta hun ki sukun qismat-e-insan mein nahin

kisi surat junun ki fitna-samani nahin jati

ai mazaq-e-justuju-e-dost tu le chal kahin

kanakhiyon se yun jam par jam dena

wo har tufan jo ham-aghosh-e-sahil hota jata hai

uf ye barfani hawa tere baghair

zahe wahshat ki huzn-e-duri-e-manzil pasand aaya

har bhes mein poshida taKHrib ki hasti hai

dil aaina-timsal ho gar soz-e-yaqin se

sitaron ki ziya ban kar farishton ka salam aaya

hum hain qafas hai aur KHayal aashiyan ke hain

nazar ke sath zauq-e-dur-bini bhi to de ya-rab

qayamat hai sar-e-baalin wo zulfon ka bikhar jaana

kabhi ham-nawa ki talash hai kabhi ham-safar ki talash hai

kab tak rahun main kushta-e-adab-e-kuhan aur

taDap kar shiddat-e-gham se jab un ka nam lete hain

shabab-e-nau-damida par fida hone ka waqt aaya

dil ki taskin nahin qismat-e-insan mein nahin

main is gulistan ki patti patti KHizan ke panjon mein dekhta hun

hasil-e-firdaus to ho jae virana abhi

ye tujhko hasrat-e-tamir-e-ashiyan kyon hai

saqi ruKH-e-hayat se parda uTha diya
