Like Dard another favorite pen name for poets is Hasrat. So Nawab Raza Kazmi too, selected the same name and became Hasrat Kazmi. He was born in 1920 in tehsil Nageena of district Bijnore. Raja Sahib Mehmudabad was his maternal uncle. He did his education from Aligarh and was passionate about poetry ever since his childhood. He had memorized countless couplets of innumerable poets by the age of fifteen. After partition, he moved to Pakistan and did his Masters from Karachi University. In 1954, he became associated with the Weather Department. At present, he lives in Karachi. Daagh-E-Hasrat, Sahar Rang and Sachchaiyan are the collections of his poetry.
