P حلوائي ḥalwāʼī (rel. n. fr. ḥalwā), s.m. One who makes ḥalwā and other sweetmeats, a confectioner; the tribe or caste of confectioners.

A حلوا ḥalwā (v.n. fr. حلو 'to be sweet'), s.m. Sweetmeat; a kind of pudding made of flour, ghī, and sugar, or of sūjī, ghī, sirup, dried cocoa-nut, and spices;—an electuary; anything soft and sweet (like ḥalwā);—sweet fruit, fruit:—ḥalwā-ě-be-dūd, s.m. An esteemed kind of confection;—fruit naturally ripened on the tree:—ḥalwā-sohan, s.m. A kind of sweetmeat (somewhat like 'toffee,'—said to be so called after one Sohan Lāl):—ḥalwā-māṅḍā, s.m.
