Faza is a popular surname used in the world of Urdu literature. Aqeel Ahmad was born on 21 July 1930 in Mathura, UP, but Azamgarh was his ancestral homeland. He did his graduation from Shibli College and completed his M.A and L.L.B from Allahabad University. He did a diploma in photography from the same university. After a brief encounter with English journalism, he became an ambassador and spent a considerable span of his life in Qahira and Washington. Now he is a businessman of Karachi. He had no poetical guide, but once a few corrections were made by Iqbal Suhail in one of his ghazals. He wrote under the pen name, Faza Aazmi. The collections of his poetry are Jo Dil Pe Guzri, Kursi Nama (Masnawi) Teri Shabahat Ke Dairey Me, Azaab-E-Hamsaaygi, (Masnawi) Marsia Marg-E-Sagheer, (long poem) and Aawaz-E-Shikastagi (long poem). Besides it he has written ten books in English as well.
