Australia-based prominent Urdu writer Tariq Mahmood Mirza was born on June 1961 in Rawalpindi district. He moved to Karachi in 1977, there he obtained a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Karachi University with distinction.
In 1994, Tariq Mirza was offered permanent residency in Australia due to his academic and technical skills, so he moved to Australia with his family. He lives in Sydney and runs his own business. He also participates in literary, journalistic and organizational activities.
He was the editor of Urdu fortnightly for five years (1998-2003)
Tariq Mirza is the Founder/Organiser of Allama Iqbal Study Circle Australia where he organises monthly and yearly functions.
He is also the Urdu Language Ambassador in the Blacktown city libraries.
Currently, he is the head of the New South Wales wing of the Pak Literary Foundation of Australia.
His columns regularly adorn Pakistani and global Urdu newspapers of different countries, namely, the Nawa e waqt Islamabad.
Tariq Mirza is fond of traveling and tourism, which in turn, inspires his literary works. His travelogues are unique with the inclusion of the culture, way of life, arts and histories of the common people.
The following six books have been authored by Tariq Mirza.
He has been honoured by the Academy of Letters Lahore, Pak Tea House Lahore, Urdu Society of Australia, Dareecha Oslo Norway, Bailey Organization Denmark, Urdu International of Australia, Pakistan Association of Australia and The pioneer Community organisation of Canada.
