Munshi Rashid Husain was born on 4 August 1945 in Muradabad. He lived in Muradabad till the age of five years and then moved to Pakistan along with his parents. His poetry spanned through three cities of Pakistan; Quetta, Sakhar and Karachi. His pen name is Rashid. Besides poetry, he is also interested in fiction. He has translated the works of various foreign writers into Urdu that have been published in different magazines and journals. Waasokht is the collection of his poetry.
