    ek nang-e-vajūd kyā thā maiñ

apne andar khulā paḌā thā maiñ

    darmiyāñ aa gayā vo jān-e-ġhazal

    shahr-āshob likh rahā thā maiñ

tujh pe sāñsoñ ko ḳharch kartā rahā

muflisī meñ bhī kab rukā thā maiñ

vo na utrā havā ke jhūle se

    farsh-e-gul bichhā huā thā maiñ

'arz fidvī ab to sun liije

kah rahā hai kabhī ḳhudā thā maiñ

    pūchh mujh se 'azāb-e-yaktā.ī

    apne atrāf ghūmtā thā maiñ

DhūñDhtā huuñ ab apne purzoñ ko

apne hone ik nasha thā maiñ

    ek nang-e-wajud kya tha main

apne andar khula paDa tha main

    darmiyan aa gaya wo jaan-e-ghazal

    shahr-ashob likh raha tha main

tujh pe sanson ko KHarch karta raha

muflisi mein bhi kab ruka tha main

wo na utra hawa ke jhule se

farsh-e-gul sa bichha hua tha main

'arz fidwi ki ab to sun lije

kah raha hai kabhi KHuda tha main

    puchh mujh se 'azab-e-yaktai

    apne atraf ghumta tha main

DhunDhta hun ab apne purzon ko

apne hone ka ek nasha tha main
