tab jā ke terī diid ke sikke 'atā hue
āñkhoñ ko pahle kāsa-e-sā.il kiyā gayā
dānishvaroñ ko kaam to denā thā is liye
jitne bhī hal the sab ko masā.il kiyā gayā
ham ko hamāre she'r sunā.e ga.e haiñ dost
ham ko hamārī teġh se ghā.il kiyā gayā
ik nā-murād dil kī itā’at ke naam par
achchhe-bhale dimāġh ko zaa.il kiyā gayā

aankhon ko pahle kasa-e-sail kiya gaya

hum ko hamari tegh se ghail kiya gaya
ek na-murad dil ki ita’at ke nam par
achchhe-bhale dimagh ko zail kiya gaya
