hijr kī rut kā taraf-dār bhī ho saktā hai
dil ḳhasāre se samar-bār bhī ho saktā hai
kyā zarūrī hai faqat dasht meñ vahshat ho miyāñ
ye tamāshā sar-e-bāzār bhī ho saktā hai
dukh parindoñ kī tarah shor machā sakte haiñ
hijr peḌoñ pe numūdār bhī ho saktā hai
merī har raat ko firdaus banāne vaale
dil tire ḳhvāb se bedār bhī ho saktā hai
ye zarūrī to nahīñ sāmne khul kar aa.e
merā dushman pas-e-dīvār bhī ho saktā hai
