    us ne ik ik lafz paisa kiyā mujh se vasūl

    kal shab mīlād meñ taqrīr farmāne ke baa'd

    maiñ ne tā-hadd-e-nazar dekhā koī monis na thā

    dopahar ke vaqt barqī-mauj lahrāne ke baa'd

    jaane kaise log the yaad aae kam jaane ke ba'd

    'aib sare khul gae marhum kahlane ke ba'd

    chand ka haala meri aankhon ka jala ban gaya

    kuchh nazar aaya na phir tere nazar aane ke ba'd

    aadmiyyat ke sabhi paimane ho jate hain pash

    bhuk aisi jagti hai peT bhar jaane ke ba'd

    us ne ek ek lafz ka paisa kiya mujh se wasul

    kal ki shab milad mein taqrir farmane ke ba'd

    main ne ta-hadd-e-nazar dekha koi monis na tha

    dopahar ke waqt barqi-mauj lahrane ke ba'd
