lahreñ kyoñ sākit-o-ḳhamosh haiñ sochā jaa.e
phir munāsib ho to kankar koī pheñkā jaa.e
is qadar jaur uThā.e haiñ ḳhizāñ ke hāthoñ
ham se ab mausam-e-gul meñ bhī na chahkā jaa.e
aur bhī kitne hī asbāb haiñ sarmastī ke
ye zarūrī nahīñ mai pī ke hī bahkā jaa.e
ā.īna husn-e-ḳhudā-dād kī kyā degā daad
is ko kuchh merī nigāhoñ se hī dekhā jaa.e
jin meñ tahrīr hoñ āyāt-e-mohabbat yaaro
un sahīfoñ ko na bāzār meñ bechā jaa.e
dil meñ hotī hai jo mahsūs ye halkī sī ḳhalish
dosto is kā koī naam to rakhā jaa.e
aisā ḳhushbū se bharā zaḳhm mujhe de diije
har qadam par jo rah-e-zīst ko mahkā jaa.e
sher kahne kā faqat itnā hī maqsad hai 'nadīm'
anjuman vāloñ ke me.aar ko parkhā jaa.e

un sahifon ko na bazar mein becha jae
dil mein hoti hai jo mahsus ye halki si KHalish
dosto is ka koi nam to rakha jae
aisa KHushbu se bhara zaKHm mujhe de dije
har qadam par jo rah-e-zist ko mahka jae
