roz aḳhbār meñ chhap jaane se miltā kyā hai

apnī tash.hīr ke afsāne meñ rakkhā kyā hai

tum ne jis ko ġham-e-ayyām kahā hai yaaro

vo mire dard hissa hai tumhārā kyā hai

jhun-jhune de ke mire haath meñ koī mujh ko

qaid-e-hastī sazā de ye tamāshā kyā hai

kal talak jo mirī tārīf kiyā kartā thā

aaj vo bhī mirā dushman hai ye qissa kyā hai

ham agar Duub bhī jaa.eñ to ubhar sakte haiñ

ham ko mālūm hai jiine salīqa kyā hai

ham ne sauġhāt samajh kar to use apnāyā

ab ye kyuuñ socheñ ki is ġham mudāvā kyā hai

yuuñ to sab log tumheñ jānte hoñge 'anjum'

aur koī bhī na jaane to bigaḌtā kyā hai

roz aKHbar mein chhap jaane se milta kya hai

apni tashhir ke afsane mein rakkha kya hai

tum ne jis ko gham-e-ayyam kaha hai yaro

wo mere dard ka hissa hai tumhaara kya hai

jhun-jhune de ke mere hath mein koi mujh ko

qaid-e-hasti ki saza de ye tamasha kya hai

kal talak jo meri tarif kiya karta tha

aaj wo bhi mera dushman hai ye qissa kya hai

hum agar Dub bhi jaen to ubhar sakte hain

hum ko malum hai jine ka saliqa kya hai

hum ne saughat samajh kar to use apnaya

ab ye kyun sochen ki is gham ka mudawa kya hai

yun to sab log tumhein jaante honge 'anjum'

aur koi bhi na jaane to bigaDta kya hai
