ham bhī sākit haiñ jumūd un par bhī
ḳhud ko but samjheñ ki aazar socheñ
ham kahāñ aur kahāñ chor-qadam
shah koī paa.eñ to khul kar socheñ
ḳhuub hai ye bhī vatīra 'ejāz'
ḳhushk zehnoñ meñ raheñ tar socheñ
