tār-e-vahshat se rafū kar sakeñ armānoñ ko
ye ijāzat to mile chāk-garebānoñ ko
ye jo barbād galī tum ko nazar aatī hai
is ne ābād rakhā hai ka.ī dīvānoñ ko
bazm markaz meñ sajāte ho shanāsā.ī kī
aur bulāte ho mazāfāt se begānoñ ko
yaad aatā hai tirā ‘ahd-e-mohabbat mujh ko
dekhtā huuñ maiñ agar kāñch ke gul-dānoñ ko
haa.e vo shaḳhs bhī ḳhāmosh khaḌā hai 'sharjīl'
jis kī āvāz kī 'ādat hai mire kānoñ ko

ye jo barbaad gali tum ko nazar aati hai
is ne aabaad rakha hai kai diwanon ko
bazm markaz mein sajate ho shanasai ki
aur bulate ho mazafat se beganon ko
yaad aata hai tera ‘ahd-e-mohabbat mujh ko
dekhta hun main agar kanch ke gul-danon ko
hae wo shaKHs bhi KHamosh khaDa hai 'sharjil'
jis ki aawaz ki 'adat hai mere kanon ko
