uThāyā hī nahīñ jaatā jo bār-e-zindagī ham se
kināra kar chukī shāyad kisī kī yaad bhī ham se
kabhī mānūs thī kitnī bahār-e-zindagī ham se
magar dāman-kashāñ hai āj-kal har ik ḳhushī ham se
shab-e-ġham is tarah bhī kaT ga.ī hai bārhā apnī
kisī kī yaad pahroñ guftugū kartī rahī ham se
kisī ke vāste tark-e-ta.alluq mashġhala Thahrā
hamāre dil pe jo guzrī hai vo pūchhe koī ham se
kisī ko shād-kāmī hai kisī ko nā-murādī hai
mileñge rāh-e-ulfat meñ koī tum se koī ham se
tirī chashm-e-karam kī vo tavajjoh hī nahīñ varna
kahāñ thī is qadar barham hamārī zindagī ham se
basā-auqāt ham ne mai-kade ke dar pe dastak dī
tabī.at jab kisī sūrat na bahlā.ī ga.ī ham se
kahāñ tak ḳhud-farebī meñ raheñ ham mubtalā 'āsī'
laboñ pe laa.ī jā saktī nahīñ jhūTī hañsī ham se
uThaya hi nahin jata jo bar-e-zindagi hum se
kinara kar chuki shayad kisi ki yaad bhi hum se
kabhi manus thi kitni bahaar-e-zindagi hum se
magar daman-kashan hai aaj-kal har ek KHushi hum se
shab-e-gham is tarah bhi kaT gai hai barha apni
kisi ki yaad pahron guftugu karti rahi hum se
kisi ke waste tark-e-talluq mashghala Thahra
hamare dil pe jo guzri hai wo puchhe koi hum se
kisi ko shad-kaami hai kisi ko na-muradi hai
milenge rah-e-ulfat mein koi tum se koi hum se
teri chashm-e-karam ki wo tawajjoh hi nahin warna
kahan thi is qadar barham hamari zindagi hum se
basa-auqat hum ne mai-kade ke dar pe dastak di
tabiat jab kisi surat na bahlai gai hum se
kahan tak KHud-farebi mein rahen hum mubtala 'asi'
labon pe lai ja sakti nahin jhuTi hansi hum se
