tū saath kahāñ lekin ab tak har rahguzar-e-tanhā.ī par
jo aage aage chaltā hai ai dost koī tujh sā hī to hai
is tā.ir-e-āvāra ke liye yuuñ jaal na bun ummīdoñ ke
uḌtā huā lamha jaise abhī roke se tire ruktā hī to hai
mālūm nahīñ kis vaqt ye kyā bartāv kisī se kartī hai
duniyā se koī ummīd na rakh māyūs na ho duniyā hī to hai
kirneñ na.e din ke sūraj kī phaileñgī to gum ho jā.egā
tārīk hai jis se dil kā ufuq guzrī shab kā saayā hī to hai
lamhoñ ke hujūm-e-gurezāñ meñ ik lamha jise apnā kahiye
jaañ de ke bhī haath aa jaa.e agar mahñgā kab hai sastā hī to hai
'maḳhmūr' ta.āqub kar dekho kuchh duur nahīñ haath aa jaa.e
ik gum-shuda ḳhushbū kā jhoñkā āñgan se abhī guzrā hī to hai
wo daur-e-nashat-o-dida-o-dil jaise bas abhi guzra hi to hai
sine ki kasak kis tarah miTe har dagh-e-kuhan taza hi to hai
tu sath kahan lekin ab tak har rahguzar-e-tanhai par
jo aage aage chalta hai ai dost koi tujh sa hi to hai
is tair-e-awara ke liye yun jal na bun ummidon ke
uDta hua lamha jaise abhi roke se tere rukta hi to hai
malum nahin kis waqt ye kya bartaw kisi se karti hai
duniya se koi ummid na rakh mayus na ho duniya hi to hai
kirnen nae din ke suraj ki phailengi to gum ho jaega
tarik hai jis se dil ka ufuq guzri shab ka saya hi to hai
lamhon ke hujum-e-gurezan mein ek lamha jise apna kahiye
jaan de ke bhi hath aa jae agar mahnga kab hai sasta hi to hai
'maKHmur' taaqub kar dekho kuchh dur nahin hath aa jae
ek gum-shuda KHushbu ka jhonka aangan se abhi guzra hi to hai
