maiñ ḳhuub jāntā huuñ ki vo shar-pasand hai
pencil hai mere haath meñ kāġhaz hai sāmne
bas ye batā de kaun sā manzar pasand hai
sāhil pe us ke pyaar ne bañgla diyā use
us ne kahā thā mujh ko samundar pasand hai
ye hai hayā kā haal ki maġhrūr hai zavāl
ab kyā savāl kaun sā zevar pasand hai
puḳhta makān vāloñ ko barsāt hai pasand
barsāt ko magar mirā chhappar pasand hai
'zāhid' ne mujh se pūchhā tujhe kaun hai pasand
maiñ ne kahā ki achchhā suḳhanvar pasand hai

main KHub jaanta hun ki wo shar-pasand hai
pencil hai mere hath mein kaghaz hai samne
bas ye bata de kaun sa manzar pasand hai
