    agar Thahrī huī gahrī nazar se dekho

    be-sabab aañkh se bahtī huī ashkoñ qatār

    kapkapāte hue hoñToñ sukūt

    jism ke tund mah-o-sāl

    zamāne jhulastī huī dopahar meñ saa.e ke sulagte andām

    saañs lahr se larzā huā zulfoñ hisār

    raqs kartī huī ḳhvāhish se chhalakte hue zard ayyām

    tamām

    maan lete haiñ ki ye vaqt badalte lahje

    ab bhī e.ajāz dikhā sakte haiñ

    ye masīhā.ī jhuriyoñ bharā chehrā ab bhī

    muskurāhaT ke liye tāzgī chun saktā hai

    ye guzishta fusūñ-baḳht havāle ab bhī

    vaqt nabz thamā sakte haiñ

    lekin aisā hai ki jab dhaḌkaneñ ghuñghrū ban jaa.eñ

    ḳhvāhisheñ raqs kiyā kartī haiñ sukūñ jhanak boltī hai

    thartharāte hue jismoñ se havāsoñ dhuāñ uThtā hai

    ishtihā aag janā kartī hai

    bhuuk ifrīt hai

    vahshat hai baḌī aafat hai

    bhuuk ḳhamyāza-e-jān-o-tan hai

    be-par-o-bāl kiyā kartī hai

    vaqt taal ko be-tāl kiyā kartī hai

    bhuuk a.asāb-e-shikasta khulī bai.at hai

    ye ḳhad-o-ḳhāl kuchal detī hai

    tahzīb ke reshoñ ko masal detī hai

    aur sarmāya-parastī ke sunahre ayyām

    gird-e-ruḳhsār shab-o-roz pe mil jaate haiñ

    sīna-e-ḳhāk ko dahlātā huā sūr-e-falak

    mutma.in ḳhāk-nashīnoñ ke liye

    roz roz viġhā laatā hai

    aur shab-o-roz mah-o-sāl meñ Dhal jaate haiñ

    yahī sab kuchh hai agar Thahrī hui gahrī nazar se dekho

    surḳhī-e-chashm kahīñ pahlū-e-be-tāb kahīñ

    be-karāñ bāheñ kahīñ

    lams kahīñ

    ḳhvāb kahīñ

    lahariyā pardoñ se chhantī hui shāmoñ nasha

    jism sahlātī hui raat nam

    besh na kam

    yahi sab kuchh hai

    agar Thahri hui gahri nazar se dekho

    be-sabab aankh se bahti hui ashkon ki qatar

    kapkapate hue honTon ka sukut

    jism ke tund mah-o-sal

    zamane ki jhulasti hui dopahar mein sae ke sulagte andam

    sans ki lahr se larza hua zulfon ka hisar

    raqs karti hui KHwahish se chhalakte hue zard ayyam

    tamam

    man lete hain ki ye waqt badalte lahje

    ab bhi eajaz dikha sakte hain

    ye masihai ka jhuriyon bhara chehra ab bhi

    muskurahaT ke liye tazgi chun sakta hai

    ye guzishta ka fusun-baKHt hawale ab bhi

    waqt ki nabz thama sakte hain

    lekin aisa hai ki jab dhaDkanen ghunghru ban jaen

    KHwahishen raqs kiya karti hain sukun ki jhanak bolti hai

    thartharaate hue jismon se hawason ka dhuan uThta hai

    ishtiha aag jana karti hai

    bhuk ifrit hai

    wahshat hai baDi aafat hai

    bhuk KHamyaza-e-jaan-o-tan hai

    be-par-o-baal kiya karti hai

    waqt ki tal ko be-tal kiya karti hai

    bhuk aasab-e-shikasta ki khuli baiat hai

    ye KHad-o-KHal kuchal deti hai

    tahzib ke reshon ko masal deti hai

    aur sarmaya-parasti ke sunahre ayyam

    gird-e-ruKHsar shab-o-roz pe mil jate hain

    sina-e-KHak ko dahlata hua sur-e-falak

    mutmain KHak-nashinon ke liye

    roz hi roz wigha lata hai

    aur shab-o-roz mah-o-sal mein Dhal jate hain

    yahi sab kuchh hai agar Thahri hui gahri nazar se dekho

    surKHi-e-chashm kahin pahlu-e-be-tab kahin

    be-karan bahen kahin

    lams kahin

    KHwab kahin

    lahariya pardon se chhanti hui shamon ka nasha
