Ayyub Sabir was born in an atmosphere of literature. Around him, books of Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Pashto were kept in every niche. He wrote under the pen name, Sabir. He was born in Jangalkhel town of Kohat. He started writing in Urdu but later his writings appeared in Pashto as well. He had been the editor of many newspapers and magazines. He was a columnist in Mashriq daily. He was also associated with Anjuman-e-Taraqqi-e-Urdu Kohat as well. He was a poet of both Urdu and Pashto and had many books to his credit in these languages. He died on 8 February 1989 in Kohat.
