Faraaz Aarif (real name: Aarifuddin) is one of the prominent poets of Urdu literature, recognized for his unique thought process, intellectual depth, and expertise in prosody. He was born on July 1, 1977, in Pinjar, Tehsil Barshi Takli, District Akola (Maharashtra). After completing higher education, he pursued a career in teaching and currently serves as the principal of an English medium school while also running a coaching institute.
Faraaz Aarif began his poetic journey in 1995 and soon gained distinction due to his individuality, fresh style, and profound intellectual inclinations. He excels in ghazal, nazm, criticism, translation, and prosody-based writings. His works have been published in renowned literary journals and newspapers such as Mahnama Shayar (Mumbai), Aiwaan-e-Urdu (Delhi), Urdu Duniya (Delhi), Insha (Kolkata), Fankar (Gwalior), Tamseel-e-Nau (Darbhanga), Urdu Times (Mumbai), Inquilab (Mumbai), Munsif (Hyderabad), and many others.
Among the new generation of poets, his style stands apart, a fact acknowledged by literary critics. Dr. Mehboob Raahi writes about him: "Faraaz Aarif composes serious poetry and possesses expertise in prosody." Meanwhile, Saeed Rahmani observes: "Rather than following beaten paths, he seeks new realms of expression, and his poetry is distinguished by its intellectual solidity."
In recognition of his literary contributions, he has been honored with the Yuva Samooh Prakashan Ideal Ghazal Award. His creative abilities are reflected in this couplet:
