Hameeda Shaheen was born in Sargodha, Punjab, Pakistan. She attended and matriculated from Government Girls Pilot High School in Sargodha. She later graduated with a Master in Arts from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakitstan. She joined the Punjab Education Department. Her Urdu ghazals have a style and diction characteristic of her worldview.
Her mother, her home, her children and her students (symbolizing the coming young generation of Pakistanis who will inherit the 21st Century in Sohnee Dhartee) are recurring themes in her poetry. Hamida Shaheen's poetic diction can be termed “domestic”. Hameeda Shaheen's worldview is rooted in the soil of Sohnee Dhartee ... earthbound...  sensitive ... yet carrying within it that rarely expressed sensuous and feminine mystique which Modern Urdu Poetry originating from Pakistan has seen in the early period poems of Fahmeeda Riaz and the poems and ghazals of Parveen Shakir.
