Hazrat Maulana Inam Thanvi Saharanpuri, an Urdu-Persian poet, was a distinguished, thoughtful, expressive, and versatile writer. He was a born poet and would compose poetry in every mood. He excelled in Nazm and Tareekh Goi. There are very few Tareekhs in Urdu, as most of them are in Persian. The following remarks illustrate the respect and admiration Arbab-e-Sukhan (the literary connoisseurs) had for his character and creative abilities:
The renowned poet and Saharanpur instructor, Hazrat Wasif Aabidi, stated:
"Maulana is an expert in life and the universe. In addition to being a thoughtful and perceptive poet and writer, his Kalaam reflects elements of self-realization and God-realization."
Janab Samir Khatri (Dahod), a distinguished expert on Ilm-e-Arooz, shared this influential viewpoint:
"Some of his poems are so exquisite that if one reads them in full without looking at the Maqta, one might assume it is the Kalaam of Josh Malihabadi."
Maulvi Nasiruddin Lakhimpuri, a Persian Department instructor at Mazahir Uloom Waqf, Saharanpur, remarked:
"Ustade Mohtaram Maulana Inam Thanvi's Kalaam is a magnificent work of art, showcasing his depth of thought and intellectual maturity."
Maulana Inam Thanvi was born in 1922 in Thana Bhawan, the land of Rushd and Hidayat. He completed his Arabic studies at Mazahir Uloom Saharanpur in 1948, where he served for sixty years in the publication department. He completed his Persian studies at Darul Uloom Deoband in 1937 and occasionally taught Persian as well. In 2008, he was laid to rest in the Qutub Sher Cemetery, Saharanpur, at the age of 85.
A collection of his poetry, titled Armaghan-e-Takhayyul, stands as a testament to his literary legacy.
