Manzoor Hussain was born on 15 December 1916 in Amravati, India. He secured all his degrees from tenth to L.L.B from Aligarh Muslim University. In 1938, he was appointed the Head of Department of Literature of Urdu and Persian. After partition, he moved to Pakistan and had been a professor in Zameendar College of Gujarat and later in Karachi University. Basically, he was a composer of nazms but later, he also used to compose ghazals. He selected Shor as his pen name and became Shor Alig. Nabz-e-Dooran was his first collection of poetry that was published in 1959. Deewae-e-Abad, Sawad-e-Neem Tanaan, Mere Maabuud, Sailaab-e-Inqilab, Zehn-o-Zameer are the other collections of his works. Hasher Murattib, Angusht-e-Neel, Afkaar-o-Aasaar and Ander ka Aadmi are the books that were compiled by him. He passed away on 8 July 1994 in Karachi.
