He began his writing career in 1984 with short stories, later turning to poetry. In 1991, his book of prose poems titled "Khwab aur Aadmi" was published. His new book "Pa Burida Nazmein" is in progress. He writes not only in Urdu but also in Sindhi and is recognized as a translator of Sindhi literature. His works have been published in renowned journals of India and Pakistan.
Mustafa Arbab's poems convey deep and intense experiences of life in straightforward language, characterized by great simplicity, spontaneity, and clarity. His poems seem to avoid any kind of poetic artifice, metaphor, simile, or conscious use of symbolism. The poem reaches you directly with such clarity of meaning that at times it feels as though you have entered the realm of prose, as it is almost devoid of musicality. However, there is one thing—poetic impact—that differentiates poetry from prose; it leads you back from the realm of prose to that of poetry, and you clearly realize that this is entirely poetry.
