Born 6th December 1929, Muzaffar Ali Syed was a distinguished Urdu critic, researcher, and translator. Born in Amritsar, his writings include Freedom of Criticism, translations including fiction, art and philosophy, and the history of the Pakistan Air Force. He also compiled and published three collections of Mushfiq Khwaja’s famous column ‘Khama-ba-Gosh’, entitled ‘Sukhan-dar-Sukhan’ and ‘Sukhan-Haa-e-Guftani’. Muzaffar Ali Syed passed away on January 28, 2000 in Lahore. He is buried in the Cavalry Ground Cemetery in Lahore.
