Safi Aurangabadi was born on February 12, 1893 at June Bazar locality of Aurangabad as Bahauddin Siddiqui but later changed his name to Behbood Ali Siddiqui. His father Hakeem Mohammad Munir wanted Safi to become a Unani tabeeb but he left the education midway through and joined some service. Safi did several jobs and finally left all the jobs and started to live on the help extended to him by his disciples. He remained unmarried for the rest of his life. The collection of his poetry titled “Praganda” was published by his disciple Khwaja Shauq in 1965. He died on March 21, 1954 at Hyderabad.
