Sultaana Qazalbash was born in 1934 in a Sikh state, Jhalawad of Rajasthan, but her ancestral land was Delhi, where she got hes elementary education at Queen Marry School. She had an atmosphere of literature at home and she used to listen to the ghazals of Behzaad Lucknawi, Hairat Delhvi and Jigar Muradabadi with complete focus on mushairas. Her father had a very good voice in Teht-ul-Lafz, so all these factors together were responsible to evolve the poet inside her. After partition, she came to Lahore where he played a character in the famous drama Anaar Kali for Radio Pakistan that was much appreciated. In Karachi, she had not only been participating in the mushairas but in social services as well. She was very proficient in Persian language. She had lived in London since 1958, where she used to conduct programmes for children in B.B.C Urdu services. Her tarannum was very good and she was a very successful poet of mushairas. Her real name was Sultaana Qazalbash. She died on 27 January 2004 in London. Lafzon Ke Pairahan, Badliyaan, Mera Koi Maazi Nahi, and Mulko Mulko Shehro Shehro are the collections of her works.
