Shamsuddiin was born in the Sukhpura of district Baliyaa in 1934. He wrote under the pen name, Shariq. After finishing his basic education from his village, he moved on to Calcutta for his graduation. Presently, he resides in Karachi. As a child, he had a sharp memory and was able to memorize pleasant tunes and would keep humming them. He also had the ability to often weave words on those tunes and create poetry. He was a disciple of Hazrat Awais Qureshi, who had been around during the period of Wahshat Raza Ali Kalkatvi. A few collections of his poetries are titled; Be Gumaan, Zakhm ki Khushbu, Aas Be Aas, Yaadon ka Aks, and Aqeedat ke Phool.
