Poet, writer Yasmeen Hameed who is presently working in the Social Sciences Department at Lahore University of Management Sciences is a well known figure in Urdu literary circle . She has translated the work of a couple of contemporary Urdu poets into English. She also writes scripts in English for Cultural/ Fashion shows sponsored by the government of Pakistan. Her five books have been published so far including Pas-e-Aina (1988), Hisar-e-be-Dar-o-Deevar (1991), Aadha Din aur Aadhi Raat (1996), Fana bhi eik Saraab (2001), and Doosri Zindagi (Collected poems, 1988–2001) in 2007. She has also received various awards like Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for Literature , Fatima Jinnah Medal, Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi Award , Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal Award etc.
