Syed Sibt-e-Asghar Naqvi is born to Shafiq Hasan Elia in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.

1957

Jaun migrates from India and gets settled in Karachi, Pakistan.

1963

Jaun started working at the Ismailia Association of Pakistan. He supervised writing and compilation

1970

Jaun married Urdu writer and columnist Zahida Hina. They later separated in 1992.

1991

Jaun's debut poetry collection Shayad is published. It was his only published work in his lifetime.

2002

8 November

Jaun passes away in Karachi, Pakistan. He was buried in Sakhi Hasan Graveyard of Karachi.

Jaun Eliya was born on 14 December 1931 to a family of great literary and religious prestige, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh. His father, Shafiq Eliya was a noted scholar of literature and was well-versed in many languages including Hebrew, Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit

Brother of Kamal Amrohvi

Indian film director Kamal Amrohvi was Jaun Eliya's first cousin. He is well known for writing and directing landmark Bollywood movies like Pakeezah and Mahal

Reluctant to publish his work

He began writing poetry at the age of 8 but published his first collection, "Shayad", at the age of 60. The book made him one of the most prominent figures of Urdu poetry
