Main naagri rasm-ul-khat ki mukhaalifat nahi karta. Jaisa ki har ek rasm-ul-khat mein islaah ki zaroorat hai, isi tarah naagri rasm-ul-khat mein lambi islaah ki gunjaaish hai. Jab naagri zabaan waale urdu rasm-ul-khat ki mukhaalifat karte hain tab ismein mujhe hasad ki, t’assub ki boo aati hai. Ismein koi shak nahi ki main hindustaani ke haq mein hoon. Main maanta hoon ki naagri aur urdu rasm-ul-khat mein se aakhair-kaar jeet naagri rasm-ul-khat ki hi hogi. Isi tarah rasm-ul-khat ka khayaal chhod kar bhaaṣha ka khayaal karen. To jeet hindustaani ki hi hogi. Kyunki snskrit libaas waali hindi banaawaṭi hai. Aur hindustaani qudrati hai. Isi tarah farsi libaas wali urdu gair-qudrati aur banaawaṭi hai. Meri hindustaani mein sanskrit aur farsi ke lafz bahut kam aate hain aur wo sab samajh lete hain. Naam kaa jhagda mujhe bilkul pasand nahi hai. Naam kuchh bhi ho lekin kaam aisa ho ki jis se saare mulk ka, desh ka bhala ho. Ismein kisi naam se nafrat nahi honi chaahiye. Aur saare jahaan se achchha hindustaan hamaara’’ iqbaal ke is wachan ko sun ke kis hindustaani ka dil nahi uchhlega? Agar na uchhle to main use kam-naseeb maanunga. Iqbal ke is wachan ko main hindi kahoon. Hindustaani kahoon yaa urdu? Kaun kah sakta hai ki ismein hindustaani bhaaṣha nahi bhari padi hai. Is mein miṭhaas nahi hai. Khayaal ki bulandi nahi hai. Bhale hi is khayaal ke saath main aaj akela maana jaaun magar ye saaf hai ki sanskrit ke libaas mein hindi aur farsi ke libaas mein urdu ki jeet nahi hone waali hai. Jeet to hindustaani ki hi ho sakti hai jab hum anduruni hasad ko bhool jaaenge tabhi hum is banaavaṭi jhagde ko bhool jaaenge. Isse sharminda honge.

Sab ke sab karte the ye mera daava naheen hai magar kaafi log meri baat maante the. Tab main adm-e-tashaddud ki fauj ka kamaandaar tha. Aaj mera jangal mein rona samjho. Magar dharmraaj ne kaha tha ki akele rah jaane par bhi jo ṭheek samjho wo karo. So main kar raha hoon. Jo hukoomat chalaate hain wo mere dost hain magar jo kuchh main kahta hoon uske mutaabiq sab chalte hain aisi baat nahi hai. Woh kyun chalen? Main nahi chaahta ki dosti ki khaatir meri baat maani jaae. Dil ko lage tabhi maani jaae agar sab log mere kahne ke mutaabiq chalein to aaj hindustaan mein jo hua aur ho raha hai woh ho nahi sakta tha.

Asia ke logon ka khayaal dharm-mazhab ki taraf ziyaada rahta hai. Aur aajkal ke europ waalon ka sceince-vigyaan ki taraf duniya ke sab bade-bade mazhab jinke naam-leva maujood hain aur lagbhag woh sab jinke naam-leva nahi rahe, asia hi mein paida hue. Asia Walon ki saari zindagi par mazahab ki chhaap rahti hai. Hindu-musalmaan, yahoodi, paarsi baudhi. Confucius aur roman, kaithlik isaaiyon ke bhi rahan-sahan, khaan-peen, aachaar-vichaar sab par dharm ki chhaap rahti hai. Har mazhab wala yahi chaahta hai ki mera mazhab zindagi ke har kaam mein mujhe rasta dikhaae, har mazhab apne mulk aur zamaane ke mutaabiq is farz ko pooraa karne ki koshish bhi karta hai. Aahista-aahista har mazhab mein kuchh log paida ho jaate hain. Jo inhin baaton mein baal ki khaal nikaalte rahte hain. Chhoṭi-chhoṭi baaton par beja zor dete hain. Unaka mazhab kattar aur be-jaan banne lagta hai. Iski lachak jaati rahti hai. Woh zaroorat ke mutaabiq apne rasm-o-rivaaj ko bhi badal naheen sakta. Woh nikammi ghair-zaroori cheezon mein chipak jaata hai. Zaroori aur kaam ki cheezon ko bhool jaata hai. Yahaan tak ki jo raasta neki aur bhalaai ka raasta tha wahi buraai aur barbaadi ka raasta ban jaata hai. Aksar inhin ghair-zaroori baaton mein mazhab-mazhab mein firqa aur ladaai-jhagde hote hain.
