dekheñ haiñ ham ne yuuñ to sitam-āshnā bahut

'ajmal' na aap sa bhi koi saKHt-jaan mila

dekhen hain hum ne yun to sitam-ashna bahut

vaqt-e-safar qarīb hai bistar sameT luuñ

bikhrā huā hayāt daftar sameT luuñ

kitnī tavīl kyuuñ na ho bātil zindagī

jab bhī miltā huuñ vahī chehra liye

bad-duā detā hai ā.īna mujhe

jab bhi milta hun wahi chehra liye

bad-dua deta hai aaina mujhe
