Ashk Rampuri was born in a nawab family of Rampur. He was the maternal grandson of Nawab Yusuf Ali Khan Nazim. He received his early education at Nawab Aazimuddin Memorial High school in Rampur where Mohammad Ali Jauhar was the Headmaster. In 1914, Ashk went to England to study for a degree in Engineering. From there, he went to Germany to get a degree in Journalism. On his return, he chose to serve Rampur State. During this period, he was fascinated by mysticism which made him join the discipleship of Hazrat Shah Ghulam Mohiuddin, the heir of Meer Meher Ali Shah. Ever since 1946 until his demise on 28 August, 1950, he stayed with his spiritual master in Rawalpindi.
