Azhar Nawaz was born on June 18, 1995, in the historic city of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. He did his MA in English from Jamia Millia Islamia and is currently doing his PhD in English Literature from Aligarh Muslim University.

As far as his poetry is concerned, he is extremely meticulous at composing couplets, carefully weighing upon each word, sound, and metrical foot. His language and expression are simple and flowing. Pictorialism overwhelms his poems, affording an aesthetic aspect to them and creating a new way of experiencing emotions and capturing meaning. Among his most admired poets, are Mirza Ghalib, Mir Taqi Mir, Dagh Dehlavi, Irfan Siddiqui, Shakib Jalali, Ahmad Faraz, Farhat Ehsas etc. His Ghazals have come to notice in the selective works titled, ‘Qafila-e-Nau-Bahaar’, published by Rekhta, encompassing the best writings of young poets.
