Rampur has been a cultural centre of India since long and its impressions are apparent on the works of Muhammad Aarif. He was born in December 1930 in Rampur Aarif is his pen name. His clan has had a large number of poets. He participated in the first mushaira of his life at the age of twelve. He passed out of Aligarh and moved to Pakistan after partition. He had to stay at different places due to his job, however, he never lost touch with. Though he ventured into almost every field of literature but basically he specialized in ghazals. He was the Honorary Administrator at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology of Karachi. Sareer-O-Sarsar, Khwab-O-Kharosh, Gohar-E-Girdaab, and Hadaaiqa-E-Aqviyat are the collections of his works.
