Saeed Saadi is a poet of true sentiments. He was born in 1975, Sukkur, Sindh, the land of the great Sufi saint Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhattai. Sukkur is located on the west bank of the Indus River and its name is derived from the Arabic word Saqar, which means ‘Hard’ or ‘Intense’. He has been living in Bahrain since 2001. And, after moving to Bahrain he got acquainted with Saeed Qais, a reputed poet in his own right, who cultivated Saeed’s taste and liking for poetry. It was in Bahrain that poets like Saeed kindled his intellectual and literary abilities. Poetry is neither just a pastime nor an ordinary interest to Saadi, rather it is an expression of the profound meditations that clouded his consciousness when he was in Sukkur, and are being penned in Bahrain. Saeed graduated from Khawaja Farid College, Rahim Yar Khan and did his masters from Al-Khair University, Islamabad. A member of the Urdu Computerization and Standardization of Urdu Unicode Committee at the National Language Promotion Agency, Saadi started writing poetry in free verse during his college days and was also the general secretary of its literary circle.
