Sher on Rahbar
A path finder is essentially
a helpful being but he may also play a dubious role. At least, this is what we see in Urdu poetry where he assumes a different role and leads one to blind alleys. In fact, the path finder is a strong metaphor around which much has been written. A selection of verses on this character would be of interest to you.
mujhe ai rahnumā ab chhoḌ tanhā
maiñ ḳhud ko āzmānā chāhtā huuñ
mujhe ai rahnuma ab chhoD tanha
main KHud ko aazmana chahta hun
dil kī rāheñ judā haiñ duniyā se
koī bhī rāhbar nahīñ hotā
dil ki rahen juda hain duniya se
koi bhi rahbar nahin hota
