abhī kaheñ to kisī ko na e'tibār aave

ki ham ko raah meñ ik āshnā ne luuT liyā

abhi kahen to kisi ko na e'tibar aawe

ki hum ko rah mein ek aashna ne luT liya

akelā us ko na chhoḌā jo ghar se niklā vo

har ik bahāne se maiñ us sanam ke saath rahā

akela us ko na chhoDa jo ghar se nikla wo

har ek bahane se main us sanam ke sath raha

baaġh meñ lagtā nahīñ sahrā se ghabrātā hai dil

ab kahāñ le ke baiTheñ aise dīvāne ko ham

bagh mein lagta nahin sahra se ghabraata hai dil

ab kahan le ja ke baiThen aise diwane ko hum

dil betābī nahīñ Thaharne detī hai mujhe

din kahīñ raat kahīñ sub.h kahīñ shaam kahīñ

dil ki betabi nahin Thaharne deti hai mujhe

din kahin raat kahin subh kahin sham kahin

dur se aae the saqi sun ke mai-KHane ko hum

bas taraste hi chale afsos paimane ko hum

ham haal to kah sakte haiñ apnā pa kaheñ kyā

jab vo idhar aate haiñ to tanhā nahīñ aate

hum haal to kah sakte hain apna pa kahen kya

jab wo idhar aate hain to tanha nahin aate

ham se aur husn-e-amal kyā hogā

husn ke naz uThane ke siwa

hum se aur husn-e-amal kya hoga

jis kaam ko jahāñ meñ aayā thā ai 'nazīr'

ḳhāna-ḳharāb tujh se vahī kaam rah gayā

jis kaam ko jahan mein tu aaya tha ai 'nazir'

KHana-KHarab tujh se wahi kaam rah gaya

jo baat hijr aatī to apne dāman se

vo aañsū poñchhtā jaatā thā aur maiñ rotā thā

jo baat hijr ki aati to apne daman se

wo aansu ponchhta jata tha aur main rota tha

jo ḳhushāmad kare ḳhalq us se sadā raazī hai

sach to ye hai ki ḳhushāmad se ḳhudā raazī hai

jo KHushamad kare KHalq us se sada raazi hai

sach to ye hai ki KHushamad se KHuda raazi hai

ye daaġh vo hai ki dushman ko bhī nasīb na ho

aaj kya mar gae ghaDiyal bajaane wale

kyuuñ nahīñ letā hamārī ḳhabar ai be-ḳhabar

kyā tire āshiq hue the dard-o-ġham khāne ko ham

kyun nahin leta hamari tu KHabar ai be-KHabar

kya tere aashiq hue the dard-o-gham khane ko hum

mai ke jo girtā hai to lete haiñ use thaam

nazroñ se girā jo use phir kis ne sambhālā

mai pi ke jo girta hai to lete hain use tham

nazron se gira jo use phir kis ne sambhaala

maiñ huuñ patañg-e-kāġhzī Dor hai us ke haath meñ

chāhā idhar ghaTā diyā chāhā udhar baḌhā diyā

main hun patang-e-kaghzi Dor hai us ke hath mein

chaha idhar ghaTa diya chaha udhar baDha diya

na gul apnā na ḳhaar apnā na zālim bāġhbāñ apnā

banāyā aah kis gulshan meñ ham ne āshiyāñ apnā

na gul apna na KHar apna na zalim baghban apna

banaya aah kis gulshan mein hum ne aashiyan apna
